Original Silence

I went to the best concert I've ever seen. Original Silence were 2 members of Sonic Youth, the bass player of an Italian group named Zu, a guitar player of The Ex, Mats Gustafsson on saxophones and a fucking aweeeesome drummer.
The music was something absolutely crazy. The easiest way to describe it might be improvised noise. But it was much much much more. First of all you could hear different themes/"songs" in the session (one long piece that lasted 80 minutes), and they played the instruments in every way possible. Jim O'Rourke stepped on stage and began dragging the guitar on the floor. The bass player played the strings with a spoon. The other guitar player used the amplifier to play the guitar (...). The saxophone player played something like the sounds of a big ship. The drummer was a machine, kept playing millions of drum patterns (he put dishes, chains and other metallic things on the drums sometimes). On stage they were crazy, they moved everywhere like freaks, like fireworks. It was pure energy. Though there was no tempo, no melody or else I actually moved all the time, i could feel a rythm because that rythm was energy. I had to move, I had to shout "yeah" all the time, I felt that energy in all my body, from toes to hair. I was electrified and shocked and amazed and powerful.
This morning my ears ache. But it was worth it.

Noisee Noisee

I am really freaking out. I have this exam tomorrow and I can't wait for it to be over. After it I am going to see Original Silence (Improv-experimental-free jazz-avant-oh yeah) in a big squat house. I really love squat houses. We all should be squatters, because we all must have a place to rest and we should not pay for it.
Saturday I am going to a multimedia show festival held in an old castle in Milan. I will see Pan Sonic! Sweeeeeeet...
Other concerts on the way: Radian maybe, Bloc Party maybe, Sigur Ròs for sure (24 november, Firenze), Royksopp (29 november, Milano), 2 Many Djs (December, Bologna). And maybe others.
I really would like to use non addicting and safe drugs (like cigarettes or alcohol lol). But drugs are illegal. And ethically wrong...but that's what makes them interesting. Damn.
And I hate that goddamn spam-commenting. Is there anyway to stop it? Leave me a comment if you know about it. Don't spam.

Religion is dangerous

Friday night: my mum's birthday. As soon as guests came home and first bottles of wine were open, I hurried away for a pizza. Then we Krakow! had rehealsals for today's concert (I realised yesterday that we are competing for a competion, Premio Achille Gaio). We're about to fire the guitar player: he hasn't got the feeling towards music we have. It might sound hegoistic to say, but we are 5 and he's the only one not fitting in our experimental-noisy-antiacademic groove. Our playlist will be:
1-Temple: a track my moniker Gavrilo Princip did, check it www.myspace.com/gavriloprincip101. With Krakow! we start with the intro of Clash's London Calling, then head for 3 minutes of dilatation/noise; after that the clicks'n cuts of the track kick in-->more noise-->a trance/goa layer kicks in while the drummer and bass player do drum'n'bass patterns. The track ends with a 11/12ths melody.
2-Craxino: the song bears the name of Italy's prime minister in the mid-eighties, due to the 80s feeling of the track. A killer bass pattern/riff with a synth, with an chilled intermezzo with melodicas and whistles.
3-Ratatolstoj: starts with a drum solo on electrobeats, then a De Facto-style electric piano kicks in. The track develops in the "Disco Mania" chapter, that sounds like Rapture-meets-Miles Davis "On the Corner" ca. A stop and go. A swing chapter, with a Wayne Shorter-like theme I am very proud of ;). Stops in a very non-academic way (the final theme is exposed one and a half time).
4-Better git it in yo' soul/D&B: the track starts with a bass fuzz melody underlayed with clicks and noises and looped voices. Charles Mingus' tune kicks in, is exposed but then it changes into drum&bass. A theremin solo in the middle. The tracks returns to Mingus.
I am excited. I've been listening to inspirating stuff this morning, I had Miles Davis (In a silent way+Kind of blue), now I am with the Beatles (Revolver). I might consider listening to Radian next (wheeeee noooooiseeees).
After the rehealsals yesterday I met my friends, and they were celebrating the fall with redwine. After some bottles we decided to head for a park in which there was an Evangelic Church Meeting.
It was quite late, so we didn't get to hear psalms and miracles and other shit, but we started talking with 3 guys. It's amazing how those people are brainwashed. In fact, they all told stories about when they were young and went in and out prisons and all seemed to have been junkies: ain't that a bit strange? And they all did not attend any school. That's strange too, not because they did not go to school, but because it is soooo much simpler to get someone with no education, that has problems with drugs and law to believe in whatever.
The conversations were between three of them (only one was really tough on his views and had a couple of very good points..respect) and three of us (a bit drunk, but that didn't matter at all): me (the materialistic/sceptic), Fari (he was going to be a priest years ago, now he hates all dogmas) and Rado (a Nietzschean bohème). It was amazing how they told things that we faced completely and showed were senseless, then they wouldn't realize/listen and they kept on with other things. Like:
Evangelist: "It is written in the Bible about the European Union, Nicodemus tells about 15 nations getting together with one currency..."
Me: "The European Union has 25 nations"
E: "Well, 15 in the beginning"
M: "They were 7 in the beginning"
E: "Then I am confusing with another union...why won't you believe? You have to accept you need to believe"
Then I noticed that a girl was inside the tent/church doing nothing. I approached her:
Me:"Are you an evangelic too?"
She:"Yes"
M:"So why are your brothers trying to explain their position while you stay alone in the church? What is the position of woman in your faith? Is there a hierarchy between men and women?"
S:"Uhh..no..it's just..they had started speaking with you so I felt it was not right to intrude. Sorry now I must go to my husband." WTF
We asked them questions; they brought the discourse in other directions. After 2 hours (yeah, 2...) all I could hear was my friends repeating: "Christ, answer my question!" They were so closed.
It made me think of how impossible discourses between people are when they try to made others accept their point of view. It's like two blocks of marble pushing towards each other.
In all our relations we must be open to change, they must be osmosis of knowledge. I accept to talk with you because I know that you might change my point of view and that I might change yours. You must accept to talk with me for the same reasons.
Knowledge, open knowledge. Empathy. Peace.
BE OPEN!

Camembert Electrique

I had a crazy strange dream last night.
First I was with my friends in an abandoned wooden discoteque: the only way you could get there was by sailing down a river, and the river was like in the middle of a jungle. So the discoteque was in a jungle. As soon as we got there we started looking around the building, but in a while a lot of people came and started to party like crazy. They were a B-boy gang from the place I live, well known for partying hard. So in a while the police came and me and two friends had to escape on a gumboat and row against the stream. I think that the idea of the abandoned discoteque was linked to a real abandoned luna park near the place I live in. Check it: http://www.lapanza.org/photogallery/fotoconsonno.htm
After we had escaped I realized I was alone and lost in a western-movie-like grassland, with snakes and cactuses all around. A jeep approached me and said that my father was waiting for me to defeat the ghost. I jumped in and reached my father in an abandoned western saloon, he said we would have to spend the night there, and the jeep disappeared. As soon as the night came a small, green light entered the room. I was yelling at it "Go away!Go away!" but then it freaked out and psychedelic lights were all around. I fell asleep and the small light was flying all around like a small fly. I woke up and killed the light as if I was killing a fly.
I realised when I woke up that it was a soul. I killed a soul.
It's strange, a sign. I never remember dreams that accurately.
I am quite shocked.

My weekend

Dear Jesus,
my weekend was weird. That's because I did almost nothing friday (big band rehealsals+chat with friends+good beer) or saturday (stayed home studying). The real freky things happened sunday afternoon. I woke up quite early, it was raining and it was foggy, so I decided to go for some downhill biking in the woods. Aftermaths: bruises on my right foot and various scratches on my arms. That's part of it though. And I like getting hurt (lol).
At midday there was this garden birthday party/lunch in an awesome lounge bar on the lake (it's a place for cokeheads, too...). This happened:
  • Good food. And most of all, good white wine: we were 20, with 15 bottles of wine. There were like 8 girls, who usually do not drink much. When the 15 bottles ended, the guy who had the birthday (he was already very tipsy) took like 90 Euros from his wallet and bought other bottles.
  • Awseome weather. It wasn't good, but I felt it was a perfect weather for that day. It was a bit windy and clouds were all over the mountains around the lake. I really loved the place I live yesterday when I thought about the weather.
  • Despite of the weather, we dared to bathe into the lake. Naked. Drunk. Exciting experience.
  • 3 girl ventured in the lake too (wearing underpants). Respect for you three. This is what I like, no one thinking about what others might say (there were two 50 years-old men looking at them while trying to fix something with their sail boats. Then their wives joined them too).
  • People from Milan are crazy: at that party there were these 5 friends of the birthday child, all hardcore skaters, and we started talking about music and home productions, and now we have two more artists in the Moniker Factory. Plus, they were rolling joints like crazy ("This smoke is way too awful, we must finish it as soon as we can...").
  • The guy who had birthday started puking everywhere. Yahoo!
  • After that I went rehearsing with Krakow! We all thought we were rusty and that we could not manage to prepare a concert for next saturday, but Jesus, we were cool. So we celebrated with some wine, spicy cakes and beer.
  • And I (Baktus) got a gig in a lounge bar called Zanzibar.

I was very tired yesterday evening. It was like I had no feet.

Autumn

I woke up this night with the walls shaking. It was a storn going on outside. I woke up, opened my window and it rained a lot, the fog covered all the mountains. I realised it was the Autumn, as I had asked for. So I celebrated with rainy-day-music: Radiohead, the Cure, Slowblow.

There There

in pitch dark i go walking in your landscape.
broken branches trip me as i speak.
just because you feel it doesnt mean it's there.
just because you feel it doesnt mean it's there.
there's always a sirensinging you to shipwreck.
(don't reach out, don't reach out)steer away from these rocks we'd be a walking disaster.
(don't reach out, don't reach out)just because you feel it doesn't mean it's there.
(there's someone on your shoulder)just because you feel it doesn't mean it's there.
(there's someone on your shoulder)there there
why so green and lonely?heaven sent you to me.

we are accidentswaiting waiting to happen.we are accidentswaiting waiting to happen.

This song is so beautiful and the video is absolutely my favourite. There's such an atmosphere...la children story, creepy though, that takes place nowhere.
Check it http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2475931?htv=12.
I feel so decadent right now. I love Autumn and dying things.
